WELLSBORO COMMUNITY CONCERT ASSOCIATION TO PRESENT SPECIAL CONCERT BY THE KITCHEN DWELLERS NEXT FRIDAY. NOV. 1
Next Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m., the Wellsboro Community Concert Association (WCCA) is presenting a special concert by the Kitchen Dwellers, a breakout progressive bluegrass band, in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. The group will perform a mix of originals and covers.
Their performance is not part of WCCA’s 2024-2025 season concert series. Individual tickets for the Kitchen Dwellers and season combo tickets to see this band and the other four upcoming WCCA concerts can only be made online at wellsborocca.org using a credit card.
Four students attending Montana State University in Bozeman held a series of jam sessions in a kitchen where they played covers and traditional music and old-time tunes for fun.
Shawn Swain on mandolin, Torrin Daniels on banjo, Joe Funk on upright bass, and Max Davies on acoustic guitar named themselves the Kitchen Dwellers.
During the past 15 years, the four have evolved into a remarkably talented band, writing, singing and playing their original music and engaging listeners with their critically acclaimed albums, including “Ghost In The Bottle” released in 2017, “Muir Maid” in 2019, “Live from the Wilma” in 2021, and “Wise River” in 2022.
Between tallying millions of streams, the band has ignited hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and graced Telluride Bluegrass, Northwest String Summit, WinterWonderGrass, and beyond.
The Kitchen Dwellers are currently on tour with “Seven Devils,” their fourth full-length album, released on March 1 of this year. Inspired by Dante’s “Inferno,” the band threads together a conceptual arc set to a soundtrack of folk-infused bluegrass spiked with psychedelic vision and rock energy. Continuing on their own journey, the foursome deliver their most ambitious body of work yet.
“Seven Devils” tackles a lot of things in the world people try not to think about. The reality is we’re only truly happy when happiness comes from within. That’s the message,” said Daniels.
