Wehler receives third quarter Nightingale Award
Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), presented Amanda Wehler, RN, the third quarter Nightingale Award for the healthcare system. Wehler is a nurse in the inpatient acute care at BRMC, where she started in 2016.
“Amanda is an advocate for the patients we serve – always goes above and beyond when it comes to patient care. Her compassion for our patients shines through when she sits down to educate both the patients and their families throughout their stay at BRMC,” according to her nomination. “Amanda is the first to jump in and help with anything that is asked of her. We are lucky to have such a passionate nurse on our team as she is a great asset to the organization!”
The Nightingale Award is a result of nominations from medical providers and other team members throughout UAHS. The prestigious award is presented quarterly to one nurse who provides exceptional patient care, excels in patient and family teachings, creates an environment of efficient open communication with patients, as well as serving as a role model for peers.
UAHS named the highly coveted nursing award after Florence Nightingale, who laid the groundwork for the philosophy and underpinnings of modern-day nursing. Throughout Florence Nightingale’s career she displayed qualities such as integrity, nursing excellence, compassion, and service. Amanda Wehler, RN, received the nightingale award because she exudes these qualities as a nurse within the organization.
“Amanda is a great nurse and is known throughout the organization because of the compassionate care she provides,” added David Monroe, MBA, BSN, RN, chief administrative officer, BRMC. “As a fellow nurse, it’s nice to see nurses like Amanda, individuals that are here supporting the efforts of improving healthcare for our community, are receiving the recognition they deserve. Keep up the great work, Amanda!”
Wehler, along with the rest of the Nightingale awardees and the Golden Stethoscope physician recipients will be recognized at next year’s UAHS Pulse of the Community Gala which will take place on Friday, September 20, 2024.
