Wayne O. Hagan, 85, of 198 Madison Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, August 9, 2024 at Christ the King Manor.
He was born September 21, 1938 in St. Marys, son of the late Owen and Rosemary Largey Hagan. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956 and furthered his education at Washington and Jefferson College. Wayne worked as an aeronautical engineer for NASA at Edwards Air Force Base in California and at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. During his tenure at Edwards Air Force Base, Wayne was proud of his responsibilities on the X-15 Project, working alongside Neil Armstrong and Joe Walker.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Kathryn Garrett and her husband Randy of Altoona; his brother, Grant Hagan and his wife Joan of St. Marys; eleven nieces and nephews: Kaitlin Bodnar (John Berger), Todd Bodnar, Julie Ross (John), Karen Riley (Luke), David Hagan, Emily Anders (Adam Pontzer), Tina Feisthamel (Carlin), Rebecca Nichols (Travis), Patrick Hagan (Sandy), Diana Spence (Brian), and Lee Hagan; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and attended daily mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Wayne was an intelligent and friendly person who had a fascination with numbers and time to converse with anyone that he encountered. He enjoyed his time as a scuba instructor and swimming with the dolphins. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:00AM in the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM and on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM.
