Walter L. “Butch” Brunner, 86, of Grant Road, Ridgway, PA

Walter L. “Butch” Brunner, 86, of Grant Road, Ridgway, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
He was born on March 16, 1938, in Ridgway, the son of the late Walter H. and Hattie States Brunner.
On April 12, 1958, he married the late Janice O’Connell, who preceded him in death in 2016.
Butch was a proud graduate of Ridgway High School and devoted many years of service to the Fairview Coal Company before transitioning into a role at Pro Process after his retirement. Butch was a lifelong enthusiast of fishing and hunting, cherished moments spent in Missouri pursuing his passion for the outdoors, and his adventures were often accompanied by his beloved dog, Hollie. He was also a proud member of Ridgway Boy Scout Troop 93, where he instilled values of leadership and community in younger generations. Butch notably participated in the woodman’s competition, showcasing his dedication to the skills he cherished.
Butch cherished the simple pleasures in life, particularly his daily coffee club at the Royal Tasty Freeze, where he enjoyed sharing stories and laughter with his friends. He also looked forward to the family corn roasting party, a cherished tradition that brought his loved ones together each year.
He is survived by 5 children: Steve Brunner of St. Marys, Stephanie Donahue and her husband Pat of Johnsonburg, Kim Bolitski and her husband Mike of Ridgway, Kevin Brunner of Ridgway, and Mark Brunner and his wife Sheri of Ridgway,7 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 siblings: John (Linda) Brunner, Ralph Brunner, Carol (Louis) Jordan, Shirely Miller, Cathy (Michael) Tanous, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings: William, Donald, Albert, Kate Allshouse, Sue Matheson, Roberta Jean Byrom, Ruth Duchi, MaryEtta Brunner, Donna Brunner, and Naomi Brunner.
A Memorial Service for Walter L. Brunner will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday at Krise Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of Service.
