Vivian M. Schlimm, 91, formerly of Sara Road, St. Marys, PA
Vivian M. Schlimm, 91, formerly of Sara Road, St. Marys, PA passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 9, 1932 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Schreiber Young. On August 18, 1956, she married Robert “Rib” Schlimm, who preceded her in death on October 30, 2006. Together they shared more than 50 years of marriage.
Vivian was a lifelong resident of the area and was member of Queen of the World Church. She retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after many years of service. Viv enjoyed working around her house in her garden and tending to her plants. She also loved knitting and crocheting, always creating beautiful heirlooms to gift to her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her dog, Birdie, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children; David (Juli) Schlimm of Kersey, Diane (Chester) Cheatle, Peter Schlimm, and Matthew Schlimm, all of St. Marys; by nine grandchildren; Josh, Whitney, Amanda, Amy, Adam, Tanya, Isaac, Ethan, and Ava and by 11 great-grandchildren, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Vivian was preceded in death by three brothers; Wilfred “Fred” Young, Sylvester “Sonny” Young, and Arthur “Arty” Young, and by six sisters; Viola Schaefer, Margaret Mitchell, Ruth Higgins, Mary Annis, Mildred Young, and Betty Goodrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Vivian M. Schlimm will be celebrated on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Monday, Monday, August 21, 2023 from 9:30 until 10:30 AM.
