Virginia “Ginny” Davis Peangatelli, 85, of Albemarle, NC, formerly of Genesee, PA, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Born on December 27, 1939, in Coudersport, PA, Ginny was the beloved daughter of Jesse and Nina Hulbert Davis and sister to Jesse Allen “Buddy” Davis. She grew up on a small farm in Raymond, PA, where she developed a love for music, horseback riding, and lively gatherings. Some of her fondest memories included playing music with family, attending dances at North Bingham Bailey’s, and spending time with dear friends in Potter County. Ginny was a 1958 graduate of Northern Potter High School and a lifelong member of Eulalia Chapter #148 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she proudly served as Worthy Matron from 1989 to 1990. Ginny was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her three children: David Peangatelli, Lori Waugh (John Rash), and Jamie Peangatelli (Kimberly); six grandchildren: Patricia Peangatelli, Eric Peangatelli, Sara Peangatelli, Abby Peangatelli, Justin Waugh, and Katie Waugh; eight great-grandchildren: Blake, Lorelai, Melody, Hadley, Rookie, Weston, Lyle, and Dorothy; and brother, Jesse Allen “Buddy” (Janet) Davis.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Tommy; and beloved husband, Paul.
A woman of tireless energy and determination, Ginny’s strong work ethic defined much of her life. While raising her three children, she not only contracted and drove buses but also hosted snowmobile parties and welcomed deer hunters each season, preparing hearty meals that became legendary. Her talent in the kitchen eventually led her and Paul to open and operate their own restaurant—a venture that reflected her love for cooking and bringing people together.
Ginny’s passion for baking and preserving traditional recipes remained a constant throughout her life. She was dedicated to her favorite recipes from the Pennsylvania State Grange, Sacred Heart Church, and Ulysses Women’s Club. Her pies—especially her award-winning apple pie at the Potter County Fair—were a source of pride, and she took great joy in picking and shelling pecans from her own trees.
She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whether in the mountains or on the water. Always eager for adventure, she loved exploring new towns and visiting with family, classmates, and friends from coast to coast, never arriving without a fresh jar of her homemade peach, cranberry, or strawberry jam. Throughout her life, Ginny cultivated a deep and lasting community of friends. She embraced every stage of life with enthusiasm, making new friendships along the way. She loved line dancing, playing dominoes, marbles, and cards, and soaking up the sun at the beach. In her retirement, she found happiness in simple pleasures—mowing her grass on her diesel John Deere, tending to her orchids and Christmas cactus, singing along with her player-piano, completing her latest puzzle, and, of course, enjoying a warm slice of homemade apple pie.
