Violette W. McLitus, 95, of Wellsboro

Violette W. McLitus, 95, of Wellsboro, passed away, Friday, March 21, 2025, at her daughters home, with whom she lived. She was born on January 16, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas Welsh and Violette (Heineken) Hoaglin.
Violette graduated from Wellsboro High School, Class of 1947. She worked for over 40 years as a legal secretary for numerous local attorneys. Violette enjoyed collecting Hollywood memorabilia, Benedict’s bus trips to New York City and casinos, reading, and the Hamilton-Gibson, Acting Up! Theatre program. She also loved cats, animals and her favorite actor, Van Johnson, who she had the pleasure of meeting on one of her trips to New York City and treasured her picture taken with him!
Violette is survived by her daughter, Pamela M. (David) Burket of Wellsboro; her grandson, Brian Burket, and great-granddaughter, Jasmarie Burket of Wellsboro. In addition to her parents, Violette was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Welsh.
In keeping with Violette’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. A private burial will be in Niles Valley Cemetery, Middlebury Center. Violette’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street Wellsboro.
