Vernon M. Nichols

Vernon M. Nichols, 86, formerly of Katherine St., Port Allegany, PA passed away Saturday (July 20, 2024) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

     Born on March 12, 1938, he was a son of Marcus R. and Margaret E. Baker Nichols.

     He was employed with the former Pittsburgh Corning Co., Port Allegany, before his retirement. 

    Vernon was a lifetime resident of the area and attended the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Port Allegany.

    Surviving are four sons, Mark G. (Tanya) Nichols of Erie, PA, Kirk A. (Nancy) Nichols of Port Allegany, Terry V. (Sherry) Nichols of Olean, NY, Todd V. (Karissa Neal) Nichols of Port Allegany; two daughters, Brenda L. Robinson of Harrisburg, PA, Julie K. (Doug) Lindsay of Turtlepoint; 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois A. Commino of Roulette; and a son-in-law, Jose’ Rodriguez, of Scottsdale, AZ..

     He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Melinda M. Erway, and a sister, Jeralyn Nichols.

     A private graveside service will be held in the Hill Cemetery, Roulette.

    Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
