***Vehicle Accident with Heavy Entrapment***
This morning at 0741 Hours, the department was dispatched for a Vehicle Accident in the 1200 block of Route 44 North in Hebron Township.
Chief 48-10(T. Ostroski) responded and upon his arrival, located a Single-Vehicle Crash off the roadway into the trees with the occupant heavily trapped and requested Air Medical to the scene.
Engine 48-3 and Rescue 48 responded and upon their arrival immediately placed their HURST Jaws of Lifetools into service, working to free the occupant. Crews continued to work strenuously, flapping the roof, opening up the driver’s side of the vehicle and rolling the dash, while EMS provided medical treatment.
The occupant was removed from the vehicle, marking the extrication complete within 10 minutes. The patient was then packaged and placed in the awaiting ambulance to be transported by ground to UPMC Cole as all aircraft declined to fly due to weather.
The scene was then turned over to PSP Coudersport and PennDOT to control traffic. The department returned to service at 0932 Hours.
