Valerie Alisa Beck, 60, of Emporium, peacefully passed away on Friday evening, October 10, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born in DuBois on June 10, 1965, Val was the second daughter of the late James and Lucinda “Cindy” (McDowell) Beck.

A 1983 graduate of Cameron County High School, Val later moved to Johnstown, PA, where she earned her diploma as a CNA. In 1996, she returned to Cameron County and built a meaningful career caring for others—first at Guy and Mary Felt Manor, and later in private homes within the community. She gave care with heart, grit, and humor up until her own health no longer permitted it.

A bold woman in both body and spirit, Val said what she meant and kept people laughing—sometimes inappropriately, always from the heart. Her grandkids softened her edges in the best ways, and becoming their grandmother was her greatest joy. 

She is survived by her daughters, Nicole (Caleb) Graham and Noel Beck; her grandchildren, Asher, Emma-Lynn, and Kai; and her sisters, Vicki Beck, Cori (James) Pratt, and Jamie (Ken) Stuart. She is also remembered lovingly by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell “Bud” Beck.

In honoring wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
