UPMC Offers Safe Sitter® Babysitting Classes
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., May 9, 2024 – UPMC is hosting Safe Sitter® babysitting classes across north central Pennsylvania. Classes prepare students ages 11 through 16 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice choking rescue and CPR.

UPMC in North Central Pa. is recognized as a Bronze Level Safe Sitter Provider. Classes are led by certified instructor Cymantha Sanitago-Nunez, community resource navigator, UPMC in North Central Pa.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. The class fee is $40 per student. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
