UAHS Recognizes November Star Award Recipients
Sheryl Nelson, administrative assistant at the Pavilion was presented the November Star Award for BRMC. Kristyn Wilber, RN, subacute rehab, was presented the November Star Award for OGH.
BRADFORD, PA & OLEAN, NY – Sheryl Nelson and Kristyn Wilber, RN, were announced as the Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), the parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), November Star Award winners.
The Star Award is offered monthly at BRMC and OGH to an employee who displays exceptional performance and inspires others to do the same. Members of the team are nominated for outstanding customer service, ongoing performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability, and excellence. Employees are selected by patients as well as co-worker nominations.
Sheryl Nelson, administrative assistant, Pavilion, the skilled nursing facility at BRMC, received the BRMC November Star Award.
“Sheryl has been employed at BRMC for 29 years, starting in acute care then later joining The Pavilion team. She is the heartbeat of the Pavilion for staff and residents. She coordinates the scheduling, often working miracles when staff is minimal and is continually thinking out of the box to accommodate scheduling needs, completes the NHSN reporting, and many other duties,” according to her nomination. “Sheryl is the ‘go to’ when there is a question about policies, payroll as well as a multitude of other items. It’s with great pleasure to have her as a part of the Pavilion team.”
The November OGH star award went to Kristyn Wilber, RN, who works in the subacute rehab department.
“Kristyn treats each and every one of her patients as if they are the only patient she is taking care of and personalizing their patient experience. She is such an admirable advocate for her patients and makes sure her patients are heard,” according to her nomination. “Kristyn also has an incredible set of clinical skills as she notices the slightest changes with her patients and communicates pertinent information to the appropriate people. Kristyn is also a very effective communicator with the providers, fellow staff members, patients, and their families. She is the ultimate team member, offering to help wherever she can. She is such a valuable OGH employee.”
Other employees who were recognized and nominated for the November Star Award included Eileen Smith, EVS; Patricia Houghton, respiratory care. OGH nominees were: Kaitlyn Cooney, outpatient rehab; Steve Edel, admitting; Sarah Hager, RN, ICU; Jenell Saulter, acute care 3A; Nita Stevens, admitting.
Star award recipients received a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition as well as the coveted Star Award parking spot. All nominees were recognized for their hard work towards UAHS’ drive to five ¾ five-stars!
