            BRADFORD, PA / OLEAN, NY – Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), member hospital campuses of Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), are excited to announce the March 2024 Star Award winners. This month’s winners are Eileen Smith, BRMC, and Sheila Barbaro, OGH.

Eileen Smith, an environmental services aide since June 2022, received the March Star Award at BRMC.

“Eileen is a hard worker and a true testament to what a dedicated employee is. She’s always going above and beyond for the organization, her co-workers, and our patients. Her multiple previous nominations exemplify her work,” said her nomination. “Eileen is a great team player. She is a prime example of someone who has the drive and determination to complete their work.”

Sheila Barbaro, a cashier in the patient accounts department, was presented the March Star Award at OGH. Starting in 1991, Sheila has been with the organization for over 30 years.

“Sheila is a superstar and such an amazing team player when it comes to assisting anywhere she’s needed. She steps up to assist other departments when there is an excess of patients and helps to improve the flow within the departments she helps in,” said her nomination. “Sheila is a genuinely helpful and kind person as well as a great co-worker. We’re all lucky to have her on our team.”

The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations. The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Pam Little, revenue management; Mary Amacher, Pavilion. OGH nominees were: Brian Delgado, subacute rehab; Cheryl Gentner, admitting; Stephanie Martin, RN, emergency room; Shyanne Turner, food & nutrition.

Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition as well as the star award parking spot.
