Two young ladies to compete for Potter County Fair Queen
Two young ladies will be vying for the title of 2023 Potter County Fair Queen at the 87th Potter County Fair on July 30 to August 5. The contestants are Eva West and Serenity White both from Shinglehouse area.
The girls will be participating in several events throughout the week of the fair starting with the opening ceremonies and kiddie parade to finishing with coronation and the livestock auction! Each girl will give a speech on Tuesday night on Why You Should Come to My Fair! A panel of judges will interview the girls prior to the fair and then observe them all week as they participate in events.
The crowning of the new queen will be on Thursday evening at 8 pm at the entertainment pavilion.
Eva West is the sixteen year old daughter of Scott and Diane West of Shinglehouse. She attends Oswayo Valley High School where she is very active in school functions including basketball, volleyball, softball, track, student council, varsity club, band, chorus and several other school groups. Eva is president of her 4-H club, Eleven Mile Livestock where she does a market swine project. Throughout her years at the fair, she has exhibited rabbits, swine and quilts. Her earliest show experience as a five year old was a rabbit named Jack! Eva says she would like to be Potter County Fair Queen because “It would be an honor to represent my local fair and interact within the community as the Potter County Fair Queen. As a young girl, talking with the fair queen brought me great joy! Acting as a role model to young agricultural exhibitors and sharing in experiences of all attendees as the Potter County Fair Queen would be highly meaningful.”
Serenity White is the seventeen year old daughter of Shawn and Renee White of Shinglehouse. She says that she would like to be the Potter County Fair Queen because I love this beautiful part of Pennsylvania that I’ve grown up in and I would love to be able to represent Potter County! We may be small in numbers but we’re big in community spirit! Serenity plays the violin and helps coach the new Oswayo Valley drill team. She has exhibited handmade clothes, photos, artwork, crocheted stuffed animals and baked goods at the Potter County Fair. Serenity volunteers at the senior center, and is a member of the First Baptist Church youth group and choir. She is homeschooled and enjoys making crafts to sell at local farmers markets.
Make sure you come to the fair to meet the contestants and our current Potter County Fair Queen, Acie Greenman!
