TOURS OF GOODHART’S INN ON CENTRAL ARE DEC. 1, 2 & 3 DURING DICKENS OF A CHRISTMAS AND DEC. 8, 9 AND 10 DURING CHRISTMAS ON MAIN STREET
Jeff and Laura Goodhart, owners of Goodhart’s Inn on Central, are inviting the public to an open house at their bed and breakfast at 49 Central Avenue in Wellsboro during Dickens of a Christmas and Christmas on Main Street.
For the open house, the Goodharts will welcome guests for Dickens of a Christmas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 and from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 3, and for Christmas on Main Street from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9; and 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 10. They will be dressed Victorian style.
“We love providing a place where guests can step back in time and relax while enjoying the quaint town and many surrounding opportunities to enjoy nature,” said Laura. “A couple of weeks ago, we shut down so we could decorate the inn for Christmas, but now the inn is open for stays all through the month of December. During the open house, Christmas music will be playing on a victrola, Shiny Brite ornaments will be on display, 6 full sized trees will be decorated, as well as hundreds of other decorations throughout the house. Children of all ages will enjoy O gauge trains traveling through tiny villages as well as visiting the Carousel Room, which includes a real carousel horse as well as many carousel music boxes. Photo opportunities with Victoian Santa will be available.
Visitors who tour the inn will see how the couple has not only retained the home’s original Victorian character but enhanced it with antique furniture and other period décor that return it to the look of the 1800s, when it was originally built. Jeff always has new projects he is working on around the inn as he restores and refinishes copper, brass, stainless and aluminum antiques through his restoration business Polish This, Inc.
For $5, guests will be treated to hot chocolate, a stainless gaslight ornament, similar in appearance to one of the gas lights that line Wellsboro’s boulevards, and photo opportunities with Victorian Santa
