Tonya Lynn Schmerbeck, 62, of Coudersport, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home.  She was born on November 3, 1961, in Coudersport, the daughter of the late Murrel and Shirley (Sharp) Hurd.  Tonya married John R. Schmerbeck on November 5, 1988, and celebrated 32 years of marriage until his passing on October 26, 2021. 

Tonya was a waitress and bar tender for the Allegheny Club, Hollidaysburg and was a member of the American Legion, Potter Post 192, Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and was a big NASCAR and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Tonya is survived by sons: Ryan E. (Jammie) Butler and Dustin H. Butler all of Coudersport; brothers: Duncan Hurd of Coudersport; John (Linda) Hurd of Shinglehouse; David (Carol Daughtery) Hurd of Port Allegany; a sister, Norma (Don) Switzgabel of Coudersport; nine grandchildren and two great grandsons.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Hurd, a daughter-in-law, Collette Carlson, and a sister-in-law, Janet Hurd.

At Tonya’s and the family’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.  Family suggests memorial contributions in Tonya’s name be made to the American Legion, Potter Post 192, Ladies Auxiliary, 2 Buffalo St., Coudersport, PA 16915
