TCWSS is hosting a shooting contest for members from October 2023 through September 2024 at monthly practice shoots. Contest Guidelines are: Each contestant must submit a target received from Marilyn Jones at each month’s practice shoot and place her best 20-round grouping in the middle of the target or the 10-ring; Shoot 20 rounds total at any contest target using only pistols and revolvers of any caliber at a distance of 10 yards or more with the distance verified by a Range Safety Officer or a Leadership Committee Member in writing on the target; Judging on distance level of difficulty is based on the farthest the contestant can shoot with accuracy; Judging on 10-ring accuracy is based on the grouping and grouping size; The TCWSS Leadership Committee asks contestants to each submit one target per month to Marilyn Jones if they believe it to be one of their best. Jones will compile all of the targets submitted over the next year and present them to an impartial committee in October 2024. This committee will select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Best Target winners. The awards will be presented to the winners at the group’s annual Christmas Party and Dinner at a location to be determined in 2024.
Women who want to become a member of the Tioga County Women’s Shooting Society can attend two meetings without joining but are required to become a member before attending a third time.
To become a member, women are required to fill out a hold harmless waiver and a membership and medical form and pay dues of $15 once per year in addition to the range fee of $10 per meeting.
