Thomas A. Hammond, 57, of Keating Summit St., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2024) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 13, 1966, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Frederick O. and Dorothy I. Trimm Hammond.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, class of 1985.
Thomas was a machine operator with American Axel Corp. of Ridgway, PA.
He was a former member of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany.
Thomas was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting & fishing. He also enjoyed darts, shooting pool and being the life of the party.
He was an avid Cowboys, Sabre, and Cubs Fan for many years.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas A. Jones of New Brighton, PA, Jamisen R.L. (Rachael) Jones of New Kensington, PA, Drew A. Hammond of Coudersport; two daughters, Rylea E Hammond and Cloe I. Hammond both of Coudersport; five brothers: Bernard L.R. (Dawn) Hammond of Rixford, Michael J. Hammond of Coudersport, Richard T. (Sharlene Eaton) Hammond of Greensburg, PA, Dean M. (Amy) Hammond of Troupsburg, NY, and Terry (Brenda) Williams of Keating Summit; four sisters: Sally A. VanGorder and Susan I. (Mark) Herbert both of Port Allegany, Nancy M. (Gary) Hagg of Smethport, Laura L. (Mark VanGorder) Elliott of Smethport; longtime companion, Robin T. Nortum of Gifford, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws: Eugene VanGorder, Wade Elliott, James Stiles, and brother in Christ, Duane Miller, Sr.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-12 noon Friday (Mar. 1, 2024) in the East Smethport United Christian Church, when a funeral service will be held at 12 noon with Rev. Allen Young, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
