Theresa Ann Sevinsky Nix, age 73 of Palestine, Texas, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 3rd day of January 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Theresa was born on the 13th day of May 1952, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, to parents Thomas J. Sevinsky and Louise S. Caffo Sevinsky. She was affectionately known by many as Momma Nix.
Her formative years were spent in the halls and classrooms of Coudersport Area School District where she attended K-12, laying the foundation for her lifelong love of learning. Theresa’s academic journey continued at Alvin Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree that would serve as a steppingstone to a career marked by dedication and service.
She served her country as an Air Traffic Controller in the Army for a year. From 1982 to 1985, she was a proud member of the Texas State Guard, where her leadership and resilience shone brightly. Theresa’s career culminated in her retirement from the State of Texas as a field appraiser, a position that benefited from her keen eye for detail. Her service extended to the U.S. Forest Service, where she dedicated 10 years, further exemplifying her love for the great outdoors and her country.
An avid golfer, she found joy on the greens and camaraderie among fellow golfers. Theresa’s love for hunting was matched only by her skill, and the great outdoors was a canvas for her adventurous spirit. In the kitchen, her culinary talents came to life, especially during the holidays when she lovingly prepared feasts for everyone to enjoy. Momma Nix’s enthusiasm extended to the sidelines, where she was a constant presence at the sporting events of her children and grandchildren, cheering them on with pride and unwavering support.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Louise Sevinsky and her brother Gregory Sevinsky.
Theresa’s legacy is carried on by her cherished children, Christopher (Summer) Nix, Gina (Mac) Lopez, Robbie (Ashley) Nix, Matt (Megan) Nix, and Malane Nix (Wes Anderson). Her siblings, Diana (Gary) Buschen, Gloria (Mark) Richardson, Marcia (Lou) Fronckowiak, Thomas (Lynne) Sevinsky, Steve (Paula) Sevinsky, and Rita Sevinsky, will hold dear the memories of their sister’s unwavering support and love. Theresa’s ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, will continue to feel her influence in their lives for generations to come. Her friends, too numerous to count, will remember Theresa for her warmth and the genuine connections she fostered with each of them.
