The Annual Awards Assembly was held recently at Port Allegany High School.
Principal Marc Budd was the MC for the event which began with Underclassmen Awards.

Receiving Perfect Attendance for the 2022-2023 school year were Jordan Bailey, Braylon Button and Riley Colemen.
Accelerated Reader Awards were presented to Leigha Kellogg, Jordan Bailey, Alexsis Bennett, Grace Finn and Levi Wilfong. Leigha Kellogg and Grace both joined the 500 point club this year.
The 7th Grade Geography Award was presented to Maddin Nelson; Student Handbook Cover Design Award went to Alyss Pelchy; the Biology Award to Alex Schott; The Alfred University Out of the Ordinary Award went to Peyton Stiles.
Bonnie Scholar Awards from St. Bonaventure University went to Braylon Button, Amber Funk, Saxon Palmer, Miska Young, Brayden Pearsall, Julia Postelwait, Henry Kisler and Hannah Hanchett.
The Science Award – a medal and opportunity to compete for a University of Rochester Scholarship went to Levi Wilfong.
The Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award in Humanities and Social Sciences from the University of Rochester went to Braylon Button.
The Outdoor Sportman’s Awards went to 1st Place – Az Luk; 2nd Place – Lilly Ingalls, 3rd Place – Isaac Postlewait, 4th Place – Blaine Moses; 5th Place – (tie) Tyler Fessenden and Henry Kisler. The Fishing Award for Best Photo was presented to Jacob Renner and the Best Buck Award was presented to Lilly Ingalls.
Advisor Ben Palmer presented the Student Council Officer Awards to Thea Petruzzi, President; Madeline Smith, Vice-President; Camernn Stambaugh, Treasurer; and Mikya Stake, Secretary. Class Representatives were Brielle Budd, Leigha Nelson, Allie O’Shea and Evin Stauffer.
Penny Peine, Advisor, presented the Peer Helper Officer Awards to Shane Lawton, President; Isaac Fessenden, Vice-President; Thea Petruzzi, Treasurer; and Mikya Stake, Secretary.

George Riley presented Varsity Club Plaques to students who earned eight varsity letters during grades 9 – 12 to Blaine Moses, Noah Archer, Leigha Nelson, Olivia Schott, Madeline Smith, Drew Evens, Kaden Price, Jeannette Nichols, Thea Petruzzi, Evin Stauffer and Jett Ruding.
Athletic Director Aaron Clark announced the Bob Davies-Lou Foy Student Athlete Award to Olivia Schott and Drew Evens; the David Lacher Memorial Award/Female Athlete of the Year to Olivia Schott; the Thomas Taylor Memorial Award/Male Athlete of the Year to Drew Evens; and the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award to Leigha Nelson and Blaine Moses; the Scholastic Excellence Award to Mikya Stake and the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence to Chloe Cramer.
Vincent Berrettini presented the United States Air Force Math and Science Award to Isaac Fessenden and Olivia Schott and the Scholar Athlete Awards to Drew Evens and Olivia Schott. The English Award of $200 sponsored by Ardagh was presented to Olivia School by Matt Lawton. The next three awards are in the amount of $200 and are sponsored by the Port Allegany Rotary Club. They are: the Science Award announced by Wally Finn and presented to Thea Petruzzi; the Mathematics Award presented by Christian Stevinsky to Isaac Fessenden; and the Social Studies Award announced by George Riley and presented to Drew Evens.
Sara Bishel and Erin Tanner presented the French and Spanish Awards, both in the amount of $200 and sponsored by Ardagh to Isaac Fessenden and Thea Petruzzi.
Vincent Berrettini presented the Technology Education Award sponsored by C&N Bank in the amount of $100 to Drew Evens.
The Dylan Pesock Memorial Scholarship of $1000 was presented to Dayton Sherwood by the Pesock Family.
The Gerald Stayer Memorial Scholarship awards, $200 each, were presented by Justin Bienkowski to Drew Evens and Noah Archer.
The following awards were announced by George Riley: The Gilbert and Billie Allen Award of $500 was presented to Thea Petruzzi; The Jean Marie Swanson Scholarships in the amount of $10,720 each went to Issac Fessenden and Thea Petruzzi.
Seth Lowery presented the John Thrash Memorial Award of $300/year for four years to Noah Archer.
The Larry Norton Memorial Award of $500 went to Mikya Stake and The Leo Coleman Award of $1100 went to Dayton Sherwood and was presented by Loren Ferguson; the Lloyd Eastman Memorial Award of $500/each were announced by George Riley and went to Brielle Budd and Noah Archer. Matt Lawton announced the PAEA Higher Education Award of $300, sponsored by the Port Allegany Education Association, would go to Chloe Cramer and the Port Allegany Student Scholarship of $500 would go to Mikya Stake. George Riley announced the Patricia Lloyd Memorial Award of $400 would go to Allie O’Shea; and The Pastor Randy Headley Memorial Award for Community Service Awards of $500 went to seniors Makayla Alcorn, Thea Petruzzi and Mikya Stake; Junior Awards of $300 went to Alana Corey and Miska Young and $100 Awards went to Sophomore Lily Madison; 8th Grader Lillianne Reed and 7th Grader Kason Stake.
The Paul Maynard Scholarship of Courage in the amount of $1000 sponsored by the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial, Inc. was presented to Mikya Stake by Vincent Berrettini.
Loren Ferguson presented the Raymond Charles Varney Scholarship of $2000 to Dayton Sherwood and the Robert J. Edgreen Memorial Scholarship of $4000 would go to Mikya Stake..
Marc Budd presented the Richard K. Taylor Memorial Award of $500 to Chloe Cramer. The Roxie Taylor Volunteer Scholarship of $1000 was given to Thea Petruzzi.
The Lt.William E. Daisley, Jr. Mathematics Award of $500 was presented by Christian Sevinsky to Thea Petruzzi.
Mikya Stake received the Laurie Anzivine Memorial Scholarship Fund of $1000 for a student attending a four-year college and who has had an immediate family member or guardian who has gone through cancer treatment.
Evin Stauffer was awarded the Big 30 Senior Classic Scholarship of $500 and Drew Evens received the Daniel McCarthy Scholarship for students pursuing undergraduate studies in business.
The last award of the assembly was presented to Thea Petruzzi who received the John J. Murphy Family Scholarship of $2500.
