Terry B. Maxson “life is a journey”
Terry B. Maxson, 77, of Little Genesee, went to be with the Lord with his loving sister by his side on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville, NY, after a long illness.
Born on Wednesday, June 11, 1947, in Olean, NY, he was the oldest son of Bruce C. and Aola P. Howard Maxson.
Terry was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse, PA, where he excelled in basketball. He had been employed at the former Dresser-Rand in Olean, NY.
Terry loved being in the outdoors, working in his garden and grapevines. He was always working on a project. He loved animals. His faith was the driving force throughout his life and had attended the First Seventh Day Baptist Church in Little Genesee. Terry had a deep love for his family.
Terry was blessed to be cared for by his sister, Brenda, for many years.
Surviving are five children, Phillip Maxson, Charles (Rachael) Maxson of Ilion, NY, Eva Maxson of North Tonawanda, NY, Mary (Patrick) Woodard of Rural Hall, NC, and Luke (Jessica) Maxson of Newport, NC; several grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda S. Fink of Little Genesee, NY and Carla D. (Dan) Long of Greensburg, PA; two aunts, Geraldine “Ella” Howard and Cecelia “Pud” Howard, both of Shinglehouse, PA; and several nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marykatherine Elisabeth Maxson; and brother, Joe G. “Bunyon” Maxson.
Family and friends may call from 9am to 11am on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA, where funeral services will follow at 11am with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, of Shinglehouse, PA, officiating. Burial will be in the Bowler Memorial Cemetery, Little Genesee, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Terry’s name may be made to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
Terry’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
