Stephen V. Morrison, 79, of Annin Creek Rd., Turtlepoint, PA
Stephen V. Morrison, 79, of Annin Creek Rd., Turtlepoint, PA passed away Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2023) in his home, after a lengthy illness.
Born Mar. 23, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, Stephen (aka Red Beard) was the son of Stephen M. and Elizabeth A. Palmieri Morrison. He grew up in Ardmore, PA.
He rode his Indian Flyer Motorcycle to Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, PA, where he graduated Jun. 6, 1962. He eloped with his high school sweetheart, Patricia A. Johnson, March 1963-with whom he couldn’t live with and couldn’t live without.
He was a veteran, having served in the US Navy, during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a school bus & ATA driver, college maintenance repairman & moving company mover with his father, eventually deciding to change gears as a machinist with Westinghouse in Essington, PA, ’till the plant closed. He later became a CDL “Trucker” for Colonial Metals, until his retirement. His father Stephen, resided with him in his final years.
He loved the hills and rural life of Pennsylvania, and purchased a turn-of-the-century farm in Turtlepoint, PA, in the fall of 1978, to escape the “urban rat race”.
Stephen enjoyed hunting, guns, camping, State Parks, all things mechanical, surf fishing, war movies, car shows, antique stores, nostalgia, junk food, and conspiracy theories. He unhappily attended several churches. He had an almost cataloged memory of old movies and their cast. He spent many years religiously watching Wagon Train, Gunsmoke & Perry Mason. He despised all things medical, governmental, non-fat & sugar-free.
He was cantankerous, strong-willed and sometimes a lovable porcupine. His rescue mutt, Molly, filled his final years with great happiness and companionship. He never found out whether Big Foot was real & if Area 51 is hiding aliens. He grieved for the decline & loss of family farms and ways of yester years. We kids sigh with relief that Dad is finally at peace and rest.
Surviving are two sons, Robin “Bobby” D. and Stephen M. Morrison both of Laguana Beach, CA; three daughters, Patricia M. Morrison of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth A. Morrison of Port Allegany, Theresa Greineder of Honey Grove, TX; ten grandchildren; and a sister, Caroline Morrison of Penn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Patricia.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
Condolences can be made to: Robin “Bobby” Morrison, 2315 Annin Creek Rd., Turtlepoint, PA 16750.
