Smethport Fire Department Inc.
A predicted snow event turned out to be more than expected which brought out the SFD to respond to several calls over a 4 hour period. The first dispatch came in at 2020 hours for Fire Police to close Rt 6 hill.
Snow was falling at a rate of 2+ inches per hour causing nearly impossible road conditions for a few hours. Heavy wet snow began snapping tree limbs, pulling wires down and caused a power outage in Smethport for over an hour. All calls were handled and members were back at Station 2 at aprx 0045. Chief 2 had command.
