Six Olean Graduates Receive CRCF Scholarships
OLEAN, N.Y., July 26 – Six recent Olean High School graduates have received scholarship awards stewarded by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Allie Stayer, Faith Schreiber, Isaac Moses and Lily Todd all received the Mary Elizabeth Smith Scholarship.
Stayer and Schreiber received $1,000. Moses and Todd received $650.
This scholarship was established through the estate of Mary-Elizabeth Smith as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund to support graduating Olean High School seniors annually.
Stayer will study biology at St. John Fisher University. Schreiber will attend Kent State University to study speech pathology and audiology. Moses plans to study computer science at Vassar College. Todd will attend Indiana Wesleyan University.
Preston Conner received the Tracy Veno Memorial/OPF Local 1796 Scholarship for $500.
Established in memory of former City of Olean firefighter Tracy Veno by his family, this scholarship is for a graduating senior of Olean High School attending a 2- or 4-year institution who has been involved in community service/volunteerism. First preference is for a student interested in a career as a first responder or in a career/vocational-technical field.
Conner will attend SUNY Oswego to study criminal justice.
Heartly Phipps was awarded the Michele Krahe Peace Olean High School Scholarship for $600.
Established in Ms. Krahe Peace’s memory by her parents, David and Irene Krahe of Olean, this scholarship is given to an Olean High School senior with preference for a student pursuing an accounting or business degree.
Phipps plans to attend Ohio State University to study fashion merchandising.
