Shirley A. Confer, 90, of Bradford, PA passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
She was born on May 15, 1933 in Bradford; a daughter of the late James and Anna Kline Weaver.
She was a 1951 graduate of the Bradford Senior High School.
On August 8, 1953 in the Sawyer EUB Church; she married William D. Confer who preceded her in death on November 9, 2016.
She was employed for several years in the office of the Bradford Era and finally at WESB radio before retiring.
After her retirement she took great joy in babysitting her granddaughters, great-grandchildren and the neighborhood children.
Shirley was a former member of the Zonta club and the Sawyer Evangelical Church. She also volunteered for the Red Cross / Meals on Wheels in Bradford. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, cooking, working on her mesh plastic cross stitch and spending time with her family; whether it was just a visit or at a family gathering.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Richard) Kliment of Florida; two granddaughters, Tracy (Mike Ketchner) Piller of Olean, NY and Krista (Jay) Whitlow of Derrick City; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Ackley of Pittsburgh, Jordan Piller of Olean, Morgan Whitlow of Providence, RI and Mallory and Jake Whitlow both of Derrick City; five sisters, Helen Miller, Norma Lee, Mary Jane Buchanan, Delsie Wingard and Linda Barrett and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Confer; two brothers, Jacob Weaver and James Weaver; and four sisters, Ethel Gould, Martha Bailey, Aletta Buchanan and Pearl Sloan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Brest, retired pastor, officiating.
Burial and committal services will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
