As has become tradition, the Port Allegany Elementary School held a last day of school assembly with the presentation of some awards, some entertainment from the students and ended with students meeting with their teacher for the upcoming school year and a visit to their new classroom.  What was different at this year’s assembly was a surprise farewell song for two beloved PAES employees who were attending their last year-end assembly.  The Elementary Boosters were on hand to present gifts to Guidance Counselor Beth Scanlon and Elementary Principal Tracy Kio.   Following that presentation was a heart felt song performed by the whole student body – So Long, Farewell….from the Sound of Music, directed by Heather Nance. PAES Music Teacher.  A slide show, featuring pictures of Mr. Kio over his years at PAES led many of the students to come and give him a hug as they watched the pictures.  The program ended with a flash mob dance to the song Time of My Life.
