Robert L. “Bob” “Wookie” Fields, 79, Of Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center
Robert L. “Bob” “Wookie” Fields, 79, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Smethport following a lengthy illness.
Bob was born on March 21, 1945 in St. Marys, son of the late George “Wally” and Jeanne Scott Fields.
He graduated from Ridgway High School, Class of 1964. Bob proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, where he worked in the commissary aboard the USS Coontz.
Bob went to meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio and worked at several local grocery stores as a butcher.
On May 16, 1970, Bob married the love of his life, the late Anita L. Fabiano, at St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2023.
Together, with his brother, Paul, Bob worked at the family store, Bob and Paul’s Market in Kersey, where Bob was the butcher from 1972 until the store was sold in 2000.
Bob was strong in his faith and was always proud to spread the word of God. Bob loved spending time with his wife and family, especially his beloved granddaughters, Jaidyn and Jenna. They were his pride and joy and always looked forward to attending their school and sports events.
Bob is survived by his daughter; Amy Goodman and her husband Chad of Smethport, as well as by his two beloved granddaughters; Jaidyn and Jenna. He is also survived by his brother; Paul Fields and his wife Sue of DuBois, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of more than 53 years, Anita (Fabiano) Fields. They showed the perfect example of “for better or worse, in sickness and health.”
Funeral Services for Robert L. Fields will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Fields officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
