Robert J. “Bob” Culver, 62, of Martinsville, IN, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away unexpectedly Monday (Nov. 7, 2022).
Born August 18, 1960, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Leroy J. Culver and Barbara J. (Arnot) Culver. On October 22, 2005, in Port Allegany, he married Karen Zessinger, who survives.
He grew up in the Port Allegany area and graduated from the Port Allegany High School, class of 1978.
Bob served with the US Air Force for 8 years, and worked as a paramedic for 10 years in Pennsylvania.
He was employed in the family business, the Culver Bus Garage, Port Allegany, for several years, and with the Martinsville School District in the technology department for 20 years, before his retirement.
Bob was well known for his ability to fix anything. He loved working on computers or anything mechanical. Bob could build anything and would do anything for anyone. He was very dependable and anytime someone needed help, he’d be there. Bob loved his animals, especially his dog and cat. In his younger years, he was always around animals and even helped train racehorses. Above all, Bob loved spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife Karen of Martinsville, IN, and mother, Barbara Culver of Port Allegany, is a daughter, Brianna (Trevor) Beck, stepson, Zachary Carey and stepdaughter, Amanda (Rob) Erwin all of Martinsville, IN; two brothers, David (Bev) Culver and James (Sharon) Culver both of Port Allegany; two sisters, Jacqueline Culver of Port Allegany, and Lisa (Jim) Rotello of Franklinton, NC; nieces and nephews: Pamela (Jason) Crants of Bellfonte, PA, William Postlewait of Austin, Megan (Chad) Saltsman of Port Allegany, Rebecca (Nick) Brandenburg of Pittsburgh, PA, Destiny Culver of Port Allegany and Anthony “TJ” Rotello of Anchorage, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Culver.
Friends will be received form 1-2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19, 2022) in the Veteran’s Memorial Home, Port Allegany, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard, immediately following the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
