Robert C. “Bob” Taylor, 83, of 335 Chestnut Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
He was born on December 30, 1940 in St. Marys, a Son of the late Leroy and Anna Garbic Taylor.
On June 1 1963, at Queen of the World Church, he married his bride, Lynda Fleming, who preceded him in death on November 13, 2018. Together they shared more than 55 years of love and marriage.
Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a logger by trade, which he always said “I can cut for two skidders and skid for two cutters”. Bob loved spending time in the woods just sitting on a stump looking at the trees. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as he was known for stretching the limits. Bob enjoyed picking berries and leeks. He could always be found in the kitchen cooking for his family and friends. Bob especially looked forward to the Fall season which he enjoyed baking, making wine and sauerkraut with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also made several trips to visit the Amish, always looking for a log cutters discount. Bob was very personable and would always give out compliments, “You look so young for as old as you are.” He gave out cloves of garlic that he kept in his vest pocket. Bob was also known for his storytelling wit. He was a friend to all and knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face in any situation.
Bob would say, “I have five kids to my first wife”, Lynda was his one and only. He is survived by two daughters; Lisa Snelick and her husband John of Ohio, and Tracy Ross and her husband Rich of Ridgway, by three sons; Bob Taylor and his wife Laurie, Todd Taylor and his wife Kim, and Troy Taylor and his wife Becki, all of St. Marys, and by six grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Brooke, Marshall, Todd Jr., and Kirt (and lots of grand-dogs). He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law; Betty Taylor and Helen Parisi, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard Taylor, Ronald Taylor, and Donald Taylor, and by 2 sisters; Grace Smith, and Marlene Moriarity.
