Robert “Bob” P. Metarko, 90, formerly of Wellsboro, PA

Robert “Bob” P. Metarko, 90, formerly of Wellsboro, died on Saturday, February 22, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 22, 1934 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Pete and Anna (Wasil) Metarko. After graduating from Charleston Wellsboro Joint High School, he served in the U.S. Army and then graduated with both his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Engineering from Drexel University. Decades of employment at Honeywell were characterized by excellence and advancement. He served as Director of Engineering, providing international oversight and consulting.
He was married for 67 years to his best friend, the late Edith J. (Greener) Metarko and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Wit and wisdom were par for the course. A blessing to all who knew him, his unwavering passion to help others was evidenced by his generosity of time, talents, and gifts. Bob is survived by his daughter Bette (Douglas) Gombar of Perkasie; sons Raymond (Theresa) Keck of Perkasie and Greg (Toma) Metarko of Erin, NY; grandchildren Gregory (Leah) Keck, Megan (Jon) Markley, Kristin (Ian) Franklin, Ryan (Carrie) Gombar, Eric (Carly) Keck, Kelly (Chris) Soto; 19 great-grandchildren; an “adopted son” Jon (Lisa) Solheim of Willow Grove; and siblings Fred (Linda) Metarko, Mae Metarko, Pete (Delphine) Metarko, and Gary Metarko. Special thanks for the loving care provided in his last months of life to Josh Clark and Sessi Houessou-Adin. Besides his wife, siblings Kathryn Holford, George Metarko, Betty Patt, and Pauline Bailey predeceased him.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. www.carletonfh.com Wellsboro, PA . Interment will be in the Shumway Hill Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68018.
