Richard “Dick” Cool, 92, of Emporium, PA

Richard “Dick” Cool, 92, of Emporium, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Born to Marion and Kathleen Foley Cool in 1932 during the great depression, Dick was a lifelong worker and storyteller. A member of Operating Engineers Local #66 for 70 years, he traveled widely, operating heavy machinery and building roads, pipelines, and friendships along the way.
He married his high school sweetheart, Bev, and together they shared a lifetime of adventure—raising a family, serving their community, and exploring nearly every state by motorhome.
Dick served for 50 years in the Masonic Lodge, rising to Worshipful Master three times, and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory. He also served proudly alongside his wife in the Order of the Eastern Star, where he was Worthy Patron and she was Worthy Matron for three years. Known for his generosity and quiet strength, he was always the first to show up when someone needed a hand. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity and love.
He is survived by his children Nancy, Richard II, and Barbara; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Carol and Lois. He was preceded in death by his wife Bev, his parents Marion and Kathleen, and his siblings Joe, Jim, and Linda.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA on Wednesday morning (July 16, 2025), from 11:00 -11:45 AM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM with Bob Spaeth officiating.
