Rehearsals are Well Underway for this Year’s Broadway Under the Stars, a Musical Review Presented by Hamilton-Gibson Productions
Rehearsals are well underway for this year’s Broadway Under the Stars, a musical review presented by Hamilton-Gibson Productions, directed by Kacy Hagan of Wellsboro, and sponsored by Partners in Progress based in Mansfield, PA.
Broadway Under the Stars has become an annual favorite with both locals and visitors alike. Now in its third year, the show offers a wonderful selection of Broadway favorites plus a few more obscure but powerful songs you may hear for the first time. “It’s a beautiful collection of music from a wide variety of shows and stories, pieced together in a way that displays local talent and has something everyone can enjoy.” shares Jayna Brodnicki of Morris, PA who is part of the cast.
Weather permitting, the show will take place at Stony Fork Creek Campground, where audience members bring a lawn or camp chair and enjoy food, beverage and music under the stars. In case of rain, the Vineyard Church of Wellsboro will generously host this event. This year, Rookie Cooks of Wellsboro is preparing a taco bar with tasty toppings that everyone can enjoy, along with soft drinks, sangria and other beverages available for purchase. Hamilton-Gibson sells the food and drinks, holds exciting raffles at the event, and announces a special song sponsor for each number making this night one of their most entertaining and important fundraisers of the year.
“When we produced our first Broadway Under the Stars, I was captivated by the great feeling of community and health and beauty as we listened to a wide variety of tunes under the stars.” says artistic director Thomas Putnam, who will also perform a song in the show.
Cast member Tina Eyer says, “I decided to get involved in Broadway Under the Stars because I attended as an audience member two years ago and realized how special this production was! So much talent and effort for one unique evening!”
One night only on Saturday, September 7th, this show is great for all ages and a wonderful summer send-off celebration for all. Director Kacy Hagan advises, “This show gets bigger and better each year – don’t miss it!”
