Four recent Portville Central School graduates received awards from scholarship funds managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Allison Smith and Zoey Hoak received the Dr. Donald A. Wormer Family Scholarship for $1,200, while Joel Stives received $1,500.

The endowed scholarship, established in memory of Dr. Wormer by his late wife, Elinor Wormer, is awarded to graduating seniors of Portville Central School attending a two- or four-year institution to pursue a degree in a health care-related field. Students are also eligible to re-apply and recent graduates may also apply for this scholarship.

Smith will study nursing at Jamestown Community College. Hoak will attend Alfred State College to study diagnostic medical sonography. Stives will enter the PA program at Daemen University.

Konner Zajicek received the Arnold McHone Sr. Manufacturing Scholarship for $2,200.

Established by Yvonne McHone in memory of her husband and founder of McHone Industries, Arnold McHone, the Arnold McHone St. Manufacturing Scholarship is for graduating seniors or graduates from any high school in Cattaraugus County pursuing a technical education at any post-secondary one- or two-year institution in any field related to manufacturing.
