Pink Game Raises Money for Local Cancer Care at OGH

OLEAN, NY – Each year Olean General Hospital (OGH), a Kaleida Health facility, partners with St. Bonaventure University (SBU) athletics to raise money for local cancer care. The honorary Pink Game was held at the Women’s Basketball game on Saturday, February 8, exemplifying the commitment to local cancer care services.
Throughout the month of February, there were t-shirt sales and raffles available at both the men’s and women’s games which helped to generate additional proceeds for the cause. The Pink Game and associated fundraising generated $3,500 this year.
“A great addition to the program was the sale of pink ribbon cookies at both the men’s and women’s games, as well at both OGH and Bradford Regional Medical Center,” said Steve Jackson, president, OGH Foundation. “The launch of the pink ribbon cookies has been a great partnership with our Aramark vendor which has created something delicious but also impactful.”
One of the highlights of the game was a moving halftime ceremony where cancer survivors were honored for their strength and resilience as well as recognition of our hardworking cancer care team. The event also featured special messages from cancer survivors and spotlighted local cancer care statistics.
“We’re so thankful for the participation from SBU, our other sponsors, and the community. We all know someone that has been touched by cancer and knowing that these students helped to raise funds to support our local community is extremely touching,” added Jackson.
