Philip G. “Flip” Geyer, Jr., 66, of 431 W. Mill Street, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 4, 2023 at “The Garage” on Trout Run Road.
He was born February 22, 1957, in St. Marys, son of the late Philip “Snitz” and Gertrude “Gert” Seifert Geyer. Flip was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1975. Flip was committed to his craft at Geyer Transmission, where he worked and owned since 1987.
On January 11, 1985, in St. Marys, Flip married Rose M. Bauer, who survives. Although not long enough, they were blessed to share their love in marriage for 38 years.
In addition to his loving wife, Flip is survived by three daughters: Jacqueline Nesbitt (Cory) of Kersey, Caitlin Geyer (Josh Foster) of St. Marys, and Morgan Mahovlich (Colby) of St. Marys; his son, Matthew Geyer of St. Marys; six grandchildren: Kenadi, Roman, Carson, Levi, Allora, and Kaden; three sisters: Karen Nichol (William) of DuBois, Marci Sanford (Rodney) of Navarre, FL, and Julia Meehan of Bethlehem, PA; three brothers: William Geyer (Donna) of Ridgway, David “Randy” Geyer (Barbara) of St. Marys, and Christopher Geyer (Cynthia) of Ridgway; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Geyer and a brother-in-law, Raymond Meehan.
Flip was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the St. Marys Eagles Club, and the Knights of Columbus. In his younger days he raced motorcycles and enjoyed to hunt and fish. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and playing horseshoes. Although he was a very hard worker, he was always the life of the party! There was nothing more important to him than his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Wampa”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Samuel Pinheiro, OSB, officiating.
The family will gather briefly prior to Mass around 10:15 AM at the Center Street entrance to church.
