Performers Needed For “Dickens on the Street”
Hamilton-Gibson Productions, in collaboration with First Position Dance Studio of Wellsboro, seeks performers to be part of two “Dickens on the Street” groups of performers who will appear at the festival in Wellsboro on Saturday, December 7. The groups will offer songs, poems, dances, and skits. No prior theater experience is needed, just a desire to join in and create engaging short outdoor performances that add to the charm and festivities of Dickens of a Christmas.
Children ages 10 and up are encouraged to participate in the traveling “Street Urchin Show” which will rehearse at First Position Dance Studio at 152 Main St in Wellsboro on November 1, 8, 15 22 from 5:30 – 7:00pm (a brief parent meeting will take place on November 1 at the conclusion of rehearsal), and a final rehearsal on December 3. Performers in this group will learn fun dances and skits, and put together their own Dickens style street urchin costumes.
There will also be a teen (age 16 and up) and adult street acting troupe, the “Dickens Players” who will perform various short skits and readings. To be part of this group, come to an audition at the Warehouse Gallery, 3 Central Ave in Wellsboro, on November 2, at 2:30pm. Rehearsals for the teen/adult group will be scheduled following casting, and a final dress rehearsal will take place on December 5 at 6:00pm in the Warehouse Gallery space. Those who play an instrument, sing, do tricks (such as juggling) are strongly encouraged to attend the teen/adult audition on November 2.
The main showtimes for both groups on December 7 at the festival will be 10:00am and 2:00pm, but are subject to change slightly.
