Penn College spotlight on wrestling, basketball
Pennsylvania College of Technology’s wrestling team had two individual champions — including the most outstanding — one second-place finisher and two third-place finishers to end third among eight teams in its own invitational on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the college’s basketball teams are set to begin United East Conference play on Tuesday at home, with the women facing Lancaster Bible College at 5 p.m. and the men playing Penn State Brandywine at 7 p.m.
Wrestling
Claiming titles were Nick Woodruff of Wyalusing at 197 pounds and Kaden Ware of Brooklyn, Connecticut, at 133, with Woodruff being named the Most Outstanding. Placing second for the Wildcats was Justin Adams of York at 125, and third was Blake Dergham of Slatington at 133 and Luke Heimbach of Boyertown at 125.
Teamwise, Castleton led the way with 160 points and was followed by Alvernia 132, Penn College 130, Marymount University 105, Scranton 89.5, Thaddeus Stevens 34.5, Waynesburg 33 and Randolph College 17.

Men’s Basketball
The Wildcats, leading by eight points with 2:50 left in the second half, battled home-standing Lebanon Valley on even terms through regulation and one overtime before being outscored by five points in a second OT and losing 79-74 on Wednesday. Livingston Cross of Union, New Jersey, scored 25 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead Penn College.
At King’s College on Saturday, Cross had 25 points and 16 rebounds in a 78-60 loss. It marked Cross’ fourth consecutive double-double and his fifth in six games. He now has 824 career points and 424 career rebounds.
Also, Gavin Barrett of Roselle, New Jersey, was named the UE Offensive Player of the Week of Nov. 10-16 after he combined for 38 points in two games.

Women’s Basketball
After trailing 40-23 at halftime, Penn College rallied in the second half before falling 69-61 at Keuka College on Tuesday. Gigi Parlante of Williamsport led the Wildcats with 18 points and 17 rebounds.
On Thursday at York College, Penn College lost 74-37. Lexi Troup of Huntingdon led the offense with 12 points.
At Penn State Altoona on Saturday, Parlante came off the bench to lead the team with 26 points and 16 rebounds in a 69-63 loss. Altoona led by as many as 19 points in the first half, but Penn College tied it at 51- and 58-all in the fourth quarter before falling short.

UEC All-Sportsmanship Team Honorees
The United East All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. Student-athletes selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. Each individual has been chosen by their coach as a representative who embodies the Division III spirit. Penn College fall sports athletes honored this past week were:
