Penn College teams off to slow start
Three of six Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams opened their seasons over the weekend but came away winless.
Men’s Soccer
At first-time foe Centenary University on Friday, Penn College bested the home team in shots on goal, 8-6, but couldn’t find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss.
On Sunday at King’s College, the Wildcats lost, 1-0. It marked the seventh time in the nine-match series dominated by King’s that only one goal has separated the two teams. In a defensive struggle, King’s led in shots on goal, 11-1. Wildcats’ goalie Cole Catherman of Selinsgrove had 10 saves.

Women’s Soccer
The Wildcats’ series against Penn State Altoona was tied before Friday’s match, and it remained that way afterward in a scoreless tie as the series went to 2-2-2. Penn College dominated shots on goal, 9-1, with freshman Megan Kurian of Royersford taking three.

Women’s Volleyball
At the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, Penn College lost to the host team, 3-0, and Hartwick College, 3-1. On Saturday, the Wildcats lost to Penn State Mont Alto, 3-0.
Leaders against Lycoming were Kathryn Burnett of Wellsboro with 12 assists, Jo Hess of Jersey Shore with 16 digs and Nevaeh Ward of Odenton, Maryland, with six kills.
Against first-time opponent Hartwick, Ward led with nine kills and nine digs, while Burnett had 23 assists.
Against Mont Alto, Hess had 13 digs and Burnett 14 assists.
