Penn College Baseball Team in UE Lead

Eight games into the United East Conference baseball season, the Pennsylvania College of Technology Wildcats hold first place with a 7-1 record.
Baseball
At Wilson College in UE action on Saturday, Penn College swept Wilson College 8-1 and 6-5 to even the teams’ lifetime series at 2-2. In the opener, Brandon Shane of Boyertown and John Croasdale of Milford, New Jersey, both had two hits — Shane had a double and a triple — and drove in two runs, as Griffin Vollman of Williamsport got his third mound win. In the nightcap, Shane and Croasdale again both plated two runs, with Croasdale’s two-run single in the ninth providing the winning margin. Dillon Gallagher of Stockton, New Jersey, got the win in relief.
On Monday in a nonconference doubleheader, the team’s five-game win streak was snapped with 13-8 and 6-1 losses to Mount Aloysius. The Wildcats scored all of their runs in the second inning of the first game, with Shawn Townsend of Hatboro and Matt Munoz of Tobyhanna both driving in two runs before the visitors shut the door the rest of the way for their win. Penn College was held to three hits in the second game.

Softball
At Wilson College in UE action on Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s championship series won by Penn College, the teams split a doubleheader, with Wilson taking the first game 4-1 and snapping the Wildcats’ 10-game win streak, and Penn College winning the second 7-3. In the first game, the Wildcats stranded 10 base runners, and Wilson had back-to-back two-run innings in the fourth and fifth. In the second game, Penn College got back on track offensively with 13 hits, including a homer by Lexi Snyder of Hegins, and pitcher Mackenzi Tice of Mansfield earned her seventh win, fanning six.

Men’s Lacrosse
Facing Rosemont College in UE action on Saturday, the Wildcats won 20-4, with Elliot Dotson of Wilmington, Delaware, scoring five goals and adding four assists; Owen Kupsey of Chadds Ford, scoring five goals; and Dotson’s brother, AJ Dotson, scoring two goals and adding three assists. Also, Ryan Twist of Great Meadows, New Jersey, made five saves and got the “W” with one-half of work in the goal.

The Wildcats blanked Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday, 7-0, for their first UE win of the season. Singles winners were Alex Norris of Williamsport at No. 1, John Finnegan of Hughesville at No. 2, Logan Ogden of South Williamsport at No. 3, and Seth Priestman of Bloomsburg at No. 4. Winning by forfeit at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, were Hunter Knosky of Camp Hill and Matt Williams of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Doubles winners were Norris-Finnegan at No. 1, Knosky-Williams at No. 2, and Ogden-Priestman at No. 3.
