Penn College Athletics At A Glance

Last week in review: Tennis, lacrosse and golf teams all saw action, with the men’s and women’s tennis teams both picking up two wins in United East Conference play.
MEN’S TENNIS
Last week’s hometown highlights: Winning in singles against Penn State Abington on Tuesday were Josh Myers, of Hughesville, at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3; Logan Ogden, of South Williamsport, at No. 3, 7-5, 6-2; and Matt Williams, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4. Taking their doubles matches were Kyle Shuler, of Williamsport-Myers at No. 1, 7-5; and Ogden-Williams at No. 2, 6-1.
On Friday at Alfred University, Miller and Williams had the most competitive matches, with Miller winning six games and Williams winning five.
At Penn State Berks on Saturday, winning in singles were Williams at No. 4, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4; Avery Hawk, of York Springs, at No. 5, 6-1, 6-4; and Valentino Barillaro, of Selinsgrove, at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3. Winning in doubles were Ogden-Williams at No. 2, 6-6 (7-2 tiebreaker), and Hawk-Barillaro at No. 3, 6-3.

Doubles victors were Buckley-Vest at No. 1, 6-0; and Murray-Wene at No. 2, 6-0.
On Saturday at Penn State Berks, winning in singles were Lauren Peck, of South Williamsport, at No. 1, 6-4, 6-1; Murray at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; Wene at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2; and Cici Miller, of Dover, at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0. Doubles winners were Buckley-Peck at No. 1, 6-2, and Murray-Wene at No. 2, 6-1.

Last week’s hometown highlights: Roman DeCenzo, of Red Bank, New Jersey; Owen Kupsey, of Chadds Ford; and Chase Kaplan, of Ft. Myers, Florida, all scored three goals, while brothers Elliot Dotson and AJ Dotson, of Wilmington, Delaware, both ended with six points (combined goals and assists), during Wednesday’s big win at Neumann University. Also, Levi Borkowski, of Norristown, was 8 of 11 in faceoffs.

Last week’s hometown highlights: In the Swarthmore Invitational that wrapped up on Monday, Brady Handy, of Huntingdon, led the team with rounds of 77-79-75—231 and tied for 36th among the 81 players who finished all three rounds. Also for Penn College, Gunner Redmond, of Lock Haven, shot 84-73-75—232 and tied for 39th, Logan Gawlinski, of Kittanning, shot 97-85-77—238 and tied for 52nd, and Chase Dillman, of Boyertown, shot 81-76-83—240 and placed 59th.
