Peggy L. Ford, 77, of Smethport

Smethport – Peggy L. Ford, 77, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (December 10, 2025) at Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 21, 1948 in Salamanca, NY, the daughter of Stewart Goodwill and Rena (Mattison) Goodwill-Baney. On February 27, 1971, in the United Methodist Church of Smethport, she married Truman H. Ford, who survives.
Peggy was a graduate of Smethport Area High School Class of 1967. She was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She also was a longtime baby sitter for many families over the years.
She was a member of the Regular Baptist Church of Smethport. Peggy was known to be a “home body” and enjoyed just spending time with her family at home. She loved watching Soap Operas, reading books and watching gameshows.

One daughter: Peggy L. (Tim) Crumrine of Lewis Run, PA
Two sons: Steven K. (JoAnn) Ford of Illinois and Joseph H. (Maria Corazon) Ford of Anchorage, Alaska
Six grandchildren: Kyle (Filane) Crumrine, Taylor Ford, Joseph Benjamin (Clariza) Ford, Ashley (Michael) Lipps, Cheyenne Ford and Savannah Ford
Twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Carlyn Seighman.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a grandson, John Christian Ford; two brothers, Darrell Dean Goodwill and William E. Goodwill, and recently, her cat “Holly Sue”.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, from 4-6 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport and again on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 10 AM -12 Noon at the funeral home, where funeral services will begin at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Jack Gregg, pastor of the Regular Baptist Church of Smethport, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
