A Celebration of life for Jayne E. Pritt, 78, of Port Allegany, who passed away Monday (April 17, 2023). will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 11am to 12 Noon at the Veteran’s Memorial Home (VFW), Route 155 South, Port Allegany with services at 12:00 noon followed by a luncheon.

Jane M. Rupprecht, 98, of Russ Lane, St. Marys, PA died at her home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center St., St. Marys, PA 15857. There will be no visitation.

Reminds Customers They Must Act on Supplier Contract Renewal Notices Detailing Their Options for Electric Generation, Natural Gas Supply Services
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) continues encouraging consumers who have contracts with competitive energy suppliers to know their contract expiration dates and to carefully review contract renewal notices from suppliers detailing energy shopping options and next steps.
The Commission notes that last spring, as energy prices began to rise steeply across Pennsylvania, more than 80,000 consumers enrolled with competitive suppliers through their utility’s Standard Offer Program (Standard Offer) – which provides customers with a “standard” fixed-rate product offering for one year at 7% below the utility’s Price to Compare at the time of enrollment. At the same time, thousands of utility customers switched to various other competitive supplier offers that were lower than their utilities’ energy prices.
A year later, those customers are now starting to receive contract renewal notices from their supplier – including an Initial Notice 45-60 days prior to the contract’s expiration date and an “Options Notice” at lea…
McKean County is seeking qualified candidates for the Director of Maintenance position.
Reporting to the Commissioners, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Provide supervision and assistance for full-time maintenance staff and full-time
custodial staff.
Manage and direct work programs, PM and routine maintenance activities of buildings, plumbing systems, electrical systems, boiler systems, HVAC systems, landscaping/mowing, and snow removal programs.
Coordinate and oversee the activities of all outside contractors.
Maintain mechanical, plumbing, electrical, boiler systems and HVAC systems. Coordinate and order contracted services as needed to accomplish repairs not practical to be done by County maintenance.
Manage and coordinate the County’s Safety Program and ensure County compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and provide information on compliance to the Commissioners.
Supervise and perform work requested or needed on work orders.
Prepare plans, material lists and estimates for County renovation projects and new projects.
Purchase supplies and equipment within the County’s purchasing guidelines.
Maintain facility and custodial supplies.
Maintain utility consumption records of all County facilities as to develop and promote energy saving programs.
Prepare an annual maintenance expense/capital budget for the County.
Prepare safety grants.
Qualifications include:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Technical education in applicable field or equivalent
Experience:
Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in facilities management and safety.
Five (5) years or more experience in the operation of electrical system
and infrastructures, plumbing, building/construction, boiler systems and HVAC systems.
Basic computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Salary Range: $47,000-$60,000 annually

Delmar D. SLINGERLAND, 89, of Wellsville, NY, died Monday, April 24, 2023 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
Born December 29, 1933, in Andrews Settlement, he was the son of Harvey A. and Edith Louise Pomeroy Slingerland. A graduate of Genesee High School, he attended Alfred State College for electrical. A US Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1954 – 1956. On April 5, 1958, in Andrews Settlement, he married the former Donna R. Frailey, who survives. He was employed by Air Preheater in Wellsville and was a self-employed electrician. Delmar enjoyed tinkering, gardening, and making small stone and wooden crafts to give to friends and family. He was part of a local coffee club. Delmar enjoyed showing his 1966 Chevy Caprice.
Surviving besides his wife, Donna, are: two daughters, Marcia (Gary) Bachelor of Celoron and Regina (John) Crofut of Troy, PA; two grandchildren, Emily (Tom) Halladay of Wellsville and Micah Whitehouse of Wellsville; one great-grandson, Akiva; two brothers, Lyle R. Slingerland of Wellsville and Elmer C. Slingerland of Genesee; a sister, Vonda Burnside of WA; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Harvey Alfred Slingerland; and a sister, Donna Niver.

On April 25 at 8:55 pm. Limestone fire and ambulance were dispatched to I-86 Westbound West of Seneca Junction for a two vehicle accident with injuries and possible ejection air medical has been requested but unable to fly due to weather. Killbuck fire was dispatched to close I-86 Westbound at the Seneca Junction. Update this was 2 vehicle vs a semi crash and the road has been opened
James “Jim” Wonderly. 79, of Weedville, died on Monday, April 24, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on August 18, 1943, in Kersey, a son of the late Irvin and Madeline Minnick Wonderly.
On May 26, 1983, he married Katherine Olson, who survives.
In addition to his loving wife of nearly 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lenora Shoemaker of Sykesville, 3 sons: James Wonderly and his wife Sheri of Monroeville, Tim Wolfel and his wife Cathy of Weedville, and Andy Wonderly and his wife Sophie of Maryland, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Loretta McClintick and Virginia Carpin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Evelyn, Mary Lou, Margaret, Betty, and Nellie, and 3 brothers: Joseph, Irvin, and Robert.

Helen T. Laird, 90, of 213 Bayberry Road, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at her residence after a lengthy illness with her family by her side.
She was born April 29, 1932 in Kersey, daughter of the late Henry and Theresa Jaeger Holtzhauser. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1950. She was employed at Pure Carbon and assisted at the convent as a cook for 25 years.
On April 23, 1955, in St. Boniface Church, she married Leroy W. Laird, who survives. Together they shared 68 years of marriage.
Along with her loving husband, Helen is survived by two sons: William T. Laird (Rochelle) and James D. Laird (Mary Jo), both of St. Marys; one sister, Germaine Jacob (Frank) of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by eight sisters: Cecilia Mosier, Mary Kornacki, Anna Holtzhauser, Pauline Calla, Theresa Weidenborner, Agnes Dahlkemper, and Jean Mawn; and three brothers: Thomas, James, and Raymond Holtzhauser.
She was a dedicated mother, wife, and a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was proud to be honored as the Holy Family of St. Boniface in 1951. She enjoyed her time outdoors especially fishing and found great joy in the kitchen while she baked.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:00AM at the Queen of the World Church with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
