Alfred’s fire siren will be disconnected today
A. E. Crandall Hook & Ladder
As part of renovations to the AU physical plant building, Alfred’s fire siren will be disconnected some time today, November 15, 2023. We are in the early stages of replacing the siren with a smaller and more modern version. Until that time of installation, the siren will no longer sound for automatic alarms of fire at AU or in the community or for any fire emergencies.
We ask that our community members remain aware of activity near the fire hall that might indicate a fire response, since you won’t hear the siren to know your volunteers are responding to an emergency.
In 2022, volunteers responded to 332 fire calls, 301 of which were false alarms.
