Richard (Dick) L. Phillips, 85, Former Kane, PA Resident

Richard (Dick) L. Phillips went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2023. Born on October 24, 1938, in Austin, Pa., he was the son of Homer and Lucille Woodruff Phillips.
Dick served his country for 4 years as a U.S. Marine which he was always so proud of. In September of 1960 he married the love of his life, the former Virginia (Geannie) McCracken. They were married 63 years until her passing recently on October 24, 2023
Dick and Geannie moved to Kane where they worked and raised 3 children. He worked as a truck driver for Tayton’s Motor Freight. He was also a proud long-time member of the Kane Elks Lodge. A talented musician, vocalist, and songwriter, Dick performed in a popular country band called the “Broken Strings”.
After moving to Tennessee, Dick worked at “Southern Color Type Printing” Company and the “Smyrna Housing Authority” as the maintenance supervisor from which he retired.

Artisan Co-op Schedules Christmas Open House and Several Classes for November/December
The Potter County Artisan Co-op in Coudersport is planning events and several classes over the next few weeks.
Holiday Needle Felting, ‘take what you make’ class will be taught by Danika DeCarlo on Tuesday, November 21, from 5-7 pm. Materials provided. Cost is $25.00.
Christmas in a Small-Town Open House will be held Saturday, November 25 from 10 am – 3 pm. Christmas music and holiday treats provided. Pictures featuring Coudy Santa and taken by photographer Curt Weinhold for $30.00 for one package. An additional package can be purchased for $20.00.
Laurie Angood will teach a Holiday Adult Watercolor Painting Class on Thursday, December 7 from 6 – 8 pm. Students will paint watercolor holiday cards, including images of cardinals, chickadees, and Christmas trees. The cost for the class is $35.00. Christmas treats and materials provided.
Paint a Gourd Christmas Ornament Class will be taught by Danette Wightman, Saturday, December 9, 2 -5 pm. All supplies included for the price of $20.00.
The Young Artisan Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 28, 3-4:30 pm. $20.00 includes holiday treats and supplies.

Potter County Farmers Market Saturday, November 17th
The fall Potter County Farmers Market will be indoors at 114 North Main Street, Coudersport across from the Riley Gallery, every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The next market will be this Saturday, November 17th. Below is a list of who plans to be there and what they plan on bringing to the Market:
Our fall and winter market location is in the store front where the Blue Daffodils was located. It is 114 North Main Street, Coudersport across from the Riley Gallery. The fall market begins the first Saturday in November, from 10 am to 2 pm, until the week before Christmas. Then we change our schedule to the winter market, first Saturday each month of January, February, March, and April.
* Market times have been established after many trial times over the years. If you are not able to visit us and would like something particular from one of the vendors, please contact them directly. They are willing to try to accommodate your request.

John Ray Barley, age 47, of Middlebury, PA

John Ray Barley, age 47, of Middlebury, PA passed unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born March 7, 1976 in Lancaster, he was the son of Carl Barley and Mary Jane (Jackson) Barley.
He was an AWS certified welder and worked for over 20 years at Ward Manufacturing and most recently was employed at Siemens.
Cathy Esther (Vanzile) Valentine, age 64, Tunkhannock, PA

Cathy Esther (Vanzile) Valentine, age 64, passed away peacefully November 11, 2023 in Scranton, PA.
She was born January 15, 1959 in Corning, NY to Ronald and Cecelia (Cornell) Vanzile. Cathy worked at FoodLion, Uptons, H&R Block, Proctor and Gamble, and Johnson and Johnson. One of her favorite things was to make candy. On November 9, 2009 she married Paul Valentine and settled down in Tunkhannock, PA where they lived happily for 14 years.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Paul Valentine of Tunkhannock, PA; son, Shane Bolt of New Hampshire; daughter, Tiffany Augustin (Shawn Dixon); step-son, Robert Valentine; step-daughter, Ashley (Steven) Goehring; granddaughters: Azrael Bolt, Kayleigh Bolt, and Jada Dixon; grandson, Triston Bolt; sisters: Pam VanEtten of Tuscarora, NY, Cheryl Bonham of Lawrenceville, PA, and Carol (Jim) Jamsen of Buffalo, NY; brother Ronald Vanzile, Jr. of Linley, NY; and sister-in-laws: Kathy Valentine and Michelle Valentine.
Cathy was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Bolt; mother, Cecelia Vanzile; brother-in-law, Louis Bonham; and niece, Angelica Bonham.
At Cathy’s request, there will be no services.
