Family Loses Home To Grass Fire on Tuesday

On Tuesday afternoon 3/12/2024, Wellsboro Fire Department responded to assist Department 2 (Mansfield) with the report of a grass/brush fire which resulted in an exposure (house) becoming involved.
Chief 1-10 (McCarthy) responded directly to the incident from the Mansfield area while Tanker 1-5 responded with 3 personnel from Station 1. Personnel from Wellsboro assisted with Fire attack and overhaul. 3,000 gallons of water was delivered by the apparatus.
Department 1 was on scene for approximately an hour before returning to quarters. No injuries to personnel or civilians have been reported. Our thoughts are with the family who were involved in this incident.

Joselyn Allen-Elford brings with her over 15 years of invaluable experience in the non-profit sector. Her journey began after earning a bachelor’s degree in business economics from SUNY Cortland in 2005, whereupon she discovered her passion for serving others through non-profit work. With a professional background spanning finance, development, public relations, fundraising, and event planning, Joselyn has made significant contributions to the human services field, particularly in guiding youth and empowering families across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions of New York State.

At 03/14/24 05:24, Crary Hose, Sabinsville Ambulance, Knoxville-Deerfield, Clymer, Wellsboro Ambulance and UPMC Wellsboro ALS were dispatched to 941 California Rd in Brookfield Township to the scene of a motor vehicle accident, one vehicle, log truck rollover with entrapment. Chief 5 arrived on-scene at 05:35, with Engine 5-3 arriving at 05:38.
Chief 5 reported that the vehicle had one occupant and that they had self-extricated. Chief recalled all responding fire units, requesting that EMS continue in. Engine 5-3 crew handled patient assessment. 5-3 also determined that the vehicle, which had come to rest in a ditch, did not require any further stabilization.
Wellsboro Ambulance, Sabinsville Ambulance and UPMC Wellsboro ALS arrived on-scene, with Wellsboro Ambulance and UPMC ALS providing further patient care and transport. It was determined that the injuries sustained required transport via helicopter, which was provided by LifeNet. Squad 5-18 and Knoxville personnel handled the LZ at Electricord Mfg. Pennsylvania State Police were on-scene, and Whites Towing handled recovery. We wish the driver of the truck a speedy recovery and thank all responders for your help.

Mystery Wine Pull and Trivia Event in Angelica

Belmont, NY….. The Allegany County Democratic Committee will host a Mystery Wine Pull & Trivia Event on Saturday, March 30th at 22 W. Main St., Angelica, NY. This is a drop-in event, open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Everyone aged 21 or above is welcome. You need not be a registered Democrat to attend.

On March 14, at 5:30 Westfield, Knoxville, and Clymer were dispatched to 941 California Rd. for a log truck rollover crash with ejection and entrapment. The patient’s legs are trapped under the vehicle. Harrison Twp. rescue vehicle has been dispatched. Knoxville, Harrison, and Clymer have been recalled by Chief 5. Westfield Chief reports the patient has self-extricated. Air Medical is transporting to a trauma center.
