Richard E. Belcher, 81, of Sheffield, PA., died Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, at Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA., after an extended illness. Richard was born October 9, 1942, in Warren, PA. to the late Ernest “Earl” and Leona Farr Belcher. He was a lifelong Sheffield resident. Richard was a 1960 graduate of Sheffield High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Edinboro University. He was employed with the Cambridge Springs School District, as a science teacher. He also worked at G.T.E. Sylvania, Struthers Wells Corporation, and was a Psychiatric Aide at Warren State Hospital, retiring from there.
He was a Prudential Life Insurance Agent for a short time as well.
Richard was a member of the Warren congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Some of his hobbies were genealogy, landscaping, gardening, and hunting.
The family of Dennis C. Stromberg (deceased January 13, 2024) announces that a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Bradford Club (32-40 Boylston Street, Bradford, PA). Visitation with family will begin at 1:00 PM followed at 2:00 PM by a program of tribute and sharing. Friends are welcome.

Seniors at Port Allegany High School took a trip back in time to walk the halls of the Port Allegany Elementary School. Leading the way were Senior Class President Miksa Young and Valedictorian Levi Wilfong. The students were greeted by PAES principal Tracy Kio and Assistant Principal Greg Oliver. Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the following schedule of maintenance activities in Potter County the week of June 3. PennDOT performs year-round maintenance in its mission to provide a safe, efficient transportation system, and the scope of work in Potter County for the coming week is as follows:
Bridge Maintenance & Cleaning
Route 3002 (Cowley Hill Road) in Portage Township over the West Branch of Cowley Run. Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 6. This work takes place off the roadway and has minimal, if any, traffic impact.
Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosting its 17th annual golf tournament at the Emporium Country Club on Thursday June 13. The 4-person scramble includes a meal following the afternoon of golfing.
The all-inclusive price per person is $75.00 for members of the country club and $90.00 for reciprocal members and $95.00 for non-members. The fee includes green fees, cart, choice of a red tee, one mulligan, an arm’s length of 50/50 tickets, skins, dinner, two beverages on the course, give away items, including cash. The event supports programs at the chamber of commerce including the 9 events organized and sponsored by the chamber.

The Cameron County Fireworks committee working with Cameron County School District will blast off the popular event at the football stadium. Conversations with the district and the contractor on the upgrade to the facility assuring the event will not hamper construction. The event is set for Saturday July 6 at 9:45pm.
Fundraising for the event continues with the adoption of ducks for the annual duck race. One duck may be obtained for $2.00 while a 6-quack can be selected for $10.00. The ducks will paddle with the help of Emporium Fire Department down Broad Street during Weekend in the Wilds. The race will be held at 2pm.

The Port Allegany Memorial Day Service held on the Brooklynside Bridge took place this morning in spite of the damp weather. The Port Allegany Honor Guard participated in the ceremony led by Chuck Yeager. Gerald Hobbs, a member of the Air Force who served in Korea, dropped the flower petals into the river as the names of those lost at sea were read. They are:
Merchant seaman Roland Botvig Johnson, Lt. James Shevak, Seaman Gail Chapin, Lt. Wesley “Stub” Van Dorn, Airman Second Class George Luce and Lt. William Daisley Jr.
Kim, who was presented as the May 2023 Star Award recipient, was chosen to represent BRMC at Kaleida Health’s Salute to Excellence ceremony at Highmark Stadium.
“Kim is such an asset to BRMC as she continuously goes above and beyond not only in her primary role, but also helping every and any department or other employee she can. She played an integral role in coordinating the COVID testing and vaccination clinics in Bradford throughout the pandemic,” said her endorsement from David Monroe, MBA, BSN, RN, chief administrative officer, BRMC. “Kim has been a first responder to every major event at BRMC over the past several years and assists wherever needed. She is not only an incredible employee, but also an amazing person. We’re very lucky to have her at BRMC and in the Bradford community.”
Kim has been with UAHS for the last decade. She started off at OGH as a secretary in nursing administration when she was originally hired in 2014. Kim eventually became the nursing services coordinator in care management at OGH in 2020 and later became the administrative assistant to administration at BRMC in 2021. Kim is a native to Bradford, PA, likes to spend time with her children, Kayla and Brett. An avid Penn State fan she likes to attend Penn State football games as well as walk on the local trials, spend time with friends, and volunteer in many community organizations.
Marcy’s hard work in her role as patient account rep allowed her to claim the title of OGH’s 2023 July Star Award.
“Marcy’s strong work ethic is what truly makes her shine. Her years of experience not only makes her knowledgeable but allows her to be a leader among her co-workers providing valuable insights to their role. She always welcomes a challenge and is outsourced for many complex issues to find a practical resolution to any given situation,” said Norine Jones, manager of financial services, UAHS. “Marcy has exceptional customer service skills providing kind and compassionate service to everyone she encounters as well as takes the time to listen to understand the situation as a whole. Starting in 1985, Marcy has been with Olean General Hospital for over 40 years. She held a part-time admissions clerk position when she was first onboarded. She later transitioned to a full-time cashier position in 1988 and eventually transitioned to patient accounts in 1989, remaining there ever since. A local from Portville, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tony, and daughters, Liz, Alexis, and Gianna as well as her grandchildren.

Kim and Marcy were presented their award at the Kaleida Health Salute to Excellence event on Wednesday, May 22. The presentation was held at Highmark Stadium with each employee of the year from every Kaleida Health facility being recognized. The event included refreshments and a tour of the stadium.
Donald E. Kibbe, 86, of Warren, PA. died Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024, at Andover Skilled Nursing facility, Andover, Ohio after an extended illness.
He was born February 23, 1938, in Rouseville, PA. to the late Francis M. and Mary Corliss Kibbe. He has resided in Warren since 1960 and was a 1957 graduate of West Forest High School and was employed with the former National Forge for 32 1/2 years retiring in 1998 as a press smith.
He was a member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109.
He is survived by his daughter – Briar Lee Lane of Linesville, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Chris and Jamie Lyon, Kole, T.J. (Thad Jacob), Brinna Lane, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Fedorek Kibbe, whom he married August 8, 1959, in Oil City, PA., who died January 21, 2015, 1 daughter -Nancy Ann Lyon, who died December 9, 2016, 2 Brothers – Marion Kibbe, Lester Kibbe, 3 Sisters – Carol Kibbe, Geraldine Taylor, Barbara Rennecamp.
A private celebration of Don’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Charles M. “Chuck” Cummings Jr., 89, of 42 Pauls Lane Bradford, PA passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 at his residence.
Born on July 17, 1934, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles M. and Silvia (Herchenroether ) Cummings Sr. He attended schools in Pittsburgh.
On February 2, 1960 he enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1962.
Chuck drove truck for many years retiring from Buckler Trucking. He also owned and operated Tacks Inn for 20 years.
He was a member of the Italian Club, American Legion Post 108, and the Bradford Eagles Club. He was an avid Steelers fan, and loved to vacation in the Caribbean.
Galen C. Lester, 93, of Aiken, PA passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born December 4, 1930, in Guffey, he was the son of the late Harold and May (Stalker) Lester.
He was a 1948 graduate of Hazel Hurst High School. After his discharge from the service, he attended Jamestown Business College.
Galen enlisted into the United State Air Force, he served during the Korean War in Minnesota, and Newfoundland. He was later Honorably Discharged.
On July 11, 2005, in Bradford, he married Frances E. (White) Lester who survives.
After the service Galen was a life insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He later was a salesman at Strohman Bakery in Olean for 16 years. Prior to his retirement he spent over 20 years as the store manager of the Mt. Jewett and Eldred Pennsylvania State Liquor Stores.
