Donald B. Frybarger, 70, of Coudersport, passed away at home Saturday, January 10, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born October 12, 1955, in Lancaster, PA to Ivan F. and Jane (Skiles) Frybarger, he graduated from high school, and on January 29, 1977, he married Karin Risser, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Donald owned his own automotive garage, and was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, his smoke house, and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Donald is survived by his wife: Karin Frybarger of Coudersport; a daughter: Kristy Ackaki (Eddy) of Denver, PA; two grandchildren: Paige N. Gray and Logan M. Surabian; and a great-grandchild: River. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Kelly Surabian, and two brothers: Michael and Thomas Frybarger.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, January 17, 2026, through Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications, and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website.
Driver and vehicle online services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and include driver’s license, photo ID and vehicle registration renewals; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration letters; ability to pay driver license or vehicle insurance restoration fee; driver license and photo ID duplicates; REAL ID pre-verification; and driver exam scheduling. There are no additional fees for using online services.
With colder weather driving higher usage, the PUC urges consumers to reach out early for payment options, assistance programs, and energy-saving tips
HARRISBURG – As Pennsylvania moves into the coldest part of the winter, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is reminding consumers that December electric and natural gas bills are now arriving in mailboxes, and, for some households, those bills may be noticeably higher than expected.
Higher winter energy usage driven by colder weather — combined with energy price changes that took effect in December — can result in significant month-to-month changes in utility bills, even for households that have not experienced affordability challenges in the past. Historically, January and February are the months when home energy bills tend to peak, due largely to increased heating demand.
The PUC is encouraging consumers who are concerned about their utility bills to call their utility company now to discuss available options. Utilities can help customers explore payment arrangements, budget billing, and assistance programs that may help manage winter energy costs before a bill becomes unmanageable.
Brian L. Geyer, 49, of St. Marys, passed away at his home on Friday, January 9, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
He was born on August 21, 1976 in St. Marys, a son of the late John “Jack” Geyer, who preceded him in death in 2010, and Irene Sweeney Geyer, who survives of Pasadena, MD.
Brian was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a machinist for many years. An avid gun collector, Brian enjoyed collecting and shooting guns with his close friends. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed going to camp and fishing. Brian was a talented leather worker, crafting beautiful and intricate gifts for family and friends. He also enjoyed restoring cast iron, and could take anything and make it look new. A few years ago, Brian realized his dream of wanting to go to Egypt. He planned extensively to go on that trip and even purchased a new camera to take photos of the pyramids, enjoying every moment in Egypt. Though he had a quiet demeanor, Brian was witty and enjoyed joking around with those who knew him best.
In addition to his beloved mother, Brian is survived by a sister; Rebecca Kopp and her husband Adam of Pasadena, MD, and by his special niece and goddaughter; Adell Detwiler. He is also survived by a host of dear friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his lifelong best friend; Adrian Bevaqua and his cousin; Randy Geyer.
A Memorial Service for Brian L. Geyer will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Penn Highlands Community Nurses Hospice.

Sharon E. Cunningham (Sheri), 69, of Greeves Street, passed away Wednesday, January 7, at UPMC Hamot, with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 27, 1956, in Kane, the daughter of the late C. Richard Hodgdon and Joanne Terry Snyder. On August 31, 1974, in Kane, she married Thomas Cunningham, who survives.
Sheri was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and caring sister who found joy in cooking, gardening, sewing, working puzzles, and watching the Indianapolis Colts.
As a mother and grandmother, Sheri’s love knew no bounds. Her family was her greatest pride, and she poured herself into caring for them, guiding them, and celebrating them. Her presence brought warmth and reassurance, and her love will continue to be felt through the generations she helped shape.
Sheri was the owner of the Limberlost Restaurant and later worked at the Texas Hot. She was known for her strong work ethic and for the lifelong connections she formed with employees, coworkers, and members of the community she served.

A reinforcing shot of cold air moving in this morning will help to generate a line of heavier snow showers and possibly some embedded, dangerous snow squalls.
Visibility restrictions to a half-mile or less, a quick coating of snow on roadways, and brief wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected to accompany many of these heavier snow showers. Depending on exact air and road surface temperatures, as well as the longevity of the snow, flash freeze conditions might develop (a quick transition from wet to icy road surfaces). If this combination of factors (poor visibility, gusty winds, and flash freeze conditions) do develop at one time, then a Snow Squall Warning would be issued for the affected area.

WARREN, Pa. – Scott Olewine of Warren County joined the Board of Trustees at Northern Pennsylvania Regional College on Friday, January 9. He was sworn into his position at the Board of Trustees’ first meeting of 2026, held at the institution’s Administrative Center. His experience and knowledge will be great additions for the institution going forward.
Olewine is an experienced business professional with a strong background in finance. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds several professional designations from The American College. Vicki Hazen, 71, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 7) in the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had resided. She was born Oct. 25, 1954 in Kane, the daughter of the late Jack and Joyce (Spence) Bundy.
She retired after many years of employment at Warren State Hospital, where she worked in several different positions.
Vicki is survived by two sons, Bob (Jessica McKeirnan) Hazen of Crosby and Ken Wilson of Kane; two grandsons, Jacob and Levi Hazen; a granddaughter, Riley Hazen; a sister Marsha Morrison of Kane; a daughter-in-law Tessa Hazen and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, James M. Hazen; a sister, Bonnie Orinko and two brothers Jack and Mike Bundy.
