Closures: Tuesday, December 3rd: Closed for Weather. Tuesday, December 24th: Closing at 4:00 pm. Wednesday, December 25th: Closed. Tuesday, December 31st: Closing at 4:00 pm. Wednesday, January 1st: Closed. Regular hours will resume on the following Thursdays after the holidays.

Gertrude Hawk Candy Bar Sale: The library is selling Gertrude Hawk candy bars in various flavors. Stop at the library or Sprout’s Drug Store and get some today!

Knit Christmas Stocking Class: Learn how to knit a Christmas Stocking at our next series of knitting classes! Some prior knitting knowledge is required for this class. You must know how to knit, purl, and knit in the round. Materials needed are size 8 circular needles (either very short or 36”), one or two colors of yarn, yarn should be worsted (medium, 4) weight, and stitch markers. The dates for the class are Wednesday, November 13th & 20th, and Wednesday, December 4th & 11th, all starting at 10:30 am. Limited seats are available. Candy Cane Lane: The library will have a food table at Candy Cane Lane at the Oswayo Valley Elementary School on Saturday, December 7th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Stop by and grab a hot dog, water, pop, macaroni and cheese, and some homemade soup! The soups that will be available are Veggie Minestrone, Bean Soup, and Chicken Corn Chowder.

Elk Country Visitors Center: Ben Porkolab, the conservation education coordinator for the Elk Country Visitors Center, will give a presentation at the Library on Tuesday, December 10th, at 5:30 pm about the PA elk herd! Elk artifacts will also be available for examination. This program is for all ages! Please call or stop in at the library to sign up! 814-697-6691

Scarlet Lily Christmas Floral Centerpiece Class: Join us at the library on Tuesday, December 17th to design and take home a floral centerpiece for your holiday table, to give to a hostess, or as a gift for a loved one. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $25 per person. Limited seats are available. Please call or stop in at the library to sign up! 814-697-6691

Christmas Story Hours: As part of the Small Town Christmas Celebration, the library will have 2 story hours in December! The first is on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:00 pm and the second is on Saturday, December 21st at 1:00 pm. Please call or stop in at the library to sign up so we have the correct amounts for the craft! 814-697-6691

Homeschool Hangout:  On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, we will have a Homeschool Hangout starting at 1:00 pm. Our goal for this program is to give homeschool families in the area a chance to get together to see what other families are learning, incorporate the library into some of those lessons, and have fun. The dates for this month are December 4th & 18th. *December 18th we will meet at 2:30 pm*

Daycare Story Hour: The library will have a story hour on Friday mornings starting at 10:00 am for any children aged 3-5. Please call or stop in at the library if you plan on attending so we can plan accordingly for a craft/game after the story. *There will be no story hour on Friday, December 27th.*

The Book Discussion Group meets at the library on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10:30 am. The date for this month is December 12th. All are invited to participate. Books are provided by the Potter-Tioga Library System.

Stitch Together: Do you enjoy knitting, crocheting, needlework,  and chatting while you work? (Or chatting and not getting much of your project done?) Join us at the library on Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 1:30 pm. The dates for this month are Saturday, December 14th & 28th, and Thursday the 5th & 19th.

Board of Directors Meeting: The monthly board meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm. The date for this month is Wednesday, December 18th at 1:00 pm. This is a change due to the holiday. The public is encouraged to attend.
