OGH Golf Tournament Raises $48,000 for Local Cancer Care
OLEAN, NY – The Olean General Hospital Foundation (OGHF) held its fourteenth annual Golf to Fight Cancer golf tournament on May 22 at the Bartlett Country Club. This year’s event raised $48,000 for cancer care for the region. The annual golf Tournament has aggregated over $670,000 with proceeds helping Olean General Hospital (OGH) purchase breast cancer surgical equipment, endoscopy instruments and equipment at the hospital’s Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center, including upgrades to the linear accelerator, the device used for radiation oncology.
There were 140 golfers, and an additional 40 dinner guests with 25 more volunteers present at the event. Team Tasta Pizza took the top spot to win this year’s tournament. A recent patient at the Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center, Sarah Malinowski, shared her cancer journey
advocating on behalf of the care she received and how important these local services are for the community and the southern tier region.
“I’d like to thank everyone who joined us in support of our efforts to enhance our ability to assist cancer patients,” said Jill Owens, MD, president, Upper Allegheny Health System. “We had a tremendous turnout and the funds we raised will allow us to continue our mission of providing best-in-class care to those with this disease.”
“The funds raised will help further enhance access and the quality of cancer care in the UAHS service area,” said Steve Jackson, president, OGHF. “We are thankful for the generous support of our community. The OGH Foundation is blessed to have volunteers and supporters who come together each year for this golf outing.”
BRMC and OGH are a part of the Roswell Park Cancer Care Network which delivers comprehensive cancer care services right here close to home. These services include medical oncology and hematology which are available in Bradford and Olean, as well as radiation oncology at the Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center in Olean. The partnership provides our communities with Roswell Park employed physicians and other essential resources.
