At 7:30 p.m. next Friday, March 31, Terry Barber, an international countertenor, is presenting “A Tribute to the Best of Broadway” in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.

Barber will sing hits from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most beloved Broadway musicals, from Hamilton and Les Misérables and a special tribute to Freddie Mercury.

A former member of the Grammy Award-winning “Chanticleer” and six-time Grammy nominee for his own album, “Christmas Presence,” Barber sings in 14 different languages and has performed worldwide at such theaters as the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall.

With an extraordinarily broad vocal range and natural fluency in many musical styles, Barber has been featured on some of the world’s most storied stages and has worked with many of the music industry’s most prestigious figures.

His voice has appeared on every major record label, with Grammy-winning artists like Chanticleer, Madonna, Jewel, Chaka Khan, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Smith, and many more.  Whether performing classical or popular favorites, he “breathes new life into everything he sings” and crafts what the Los Angeles Times calls “performances of great vitality and verve.”

Barber has worked under the baton of many of the world’s most accomplished conductors including Armiliato, Leonhardt, Rousset, Parrot, Norrington, Kramer, Llewellyn, Bicket, and Tilson Thomas and joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera for their staging of “Sly,” starring Placido Domingo.

He received his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance as well as a Musical Theater Certificate and Music Technology Certificate from Northwestern University. He earned his Master of Music degree in historically informed performance from London’s Trinity College of Music and a post-graduate performance certificate with highest distinction.
